18,467 Square Feet
As part of the 16,133 sq. ft. renovation and 2,334 sq. ft. expansion for Jacksonville’s new Baptist Health MD Anderson Cancer Treatment facility, the challenge was to incorporate both medical and radiological oncology treatment modalities, while integrating and reinventing their existing design standards. The goal was to create a familiar environment for patients and staff, while implementing a refreshed vision of how this boutique cancer treatment facility looks and feels.
The primary design objective was to establish a warm, comfortable, safe space that evokes a sense of trust and a high level of patient care, making patients feel welcome and secure, easing them into their cancer treatment journey. By infusing playfully sophisticated elements with a hospitality inspired sensibility, the design establishes an ambiance of comfort, style, safety, and autonomy to make the patient’s weekly treatment experience as pleasant and relaxing as possible.
Warm, neutral tones and textures, sleek details, soothing nature inspired murals, and canopy tree inspired motifs set the stage for an environment that speaks to the warmth and renewal that nature affords. By straying from typical clinical aesthetics, the design establishes this facility as one where patients feel at ease, optimistic, and hopeful. They know they are receiving the highest level of care and compassion, while navigating their oncological treatment journey. Alongside their trusted medical professionals, patients experience a setting that is grounded and comforting during their ongoing treatment visits.

The Food Hall at Boca Raton Regional Hospital
New Construction - Fall 2027
Boca Raton, Florida
Baptist Health South Florida
9,288 Square Feet
As part of the extensive renovation and expansion of Boca Raton Regional Hospital, the in.design team was challenged with creating a multi-restaurant food hall to serve as the main food and beverage venue for the hospital’s staff and visitors. The concept for this food hall was to create a unique personality for the space that would become a destination within the hospital. The concept for the Food Hall’s design was to create an eclectic farm to table, fresh market sensibility layered with light wood tones, white painted brick and individually themed restaurants with bright channel letter signage, textured surface finishes, bold accent tiles, and vibrant food-inspired photography. The Food Hall’s architectural language is expressed through a layered, angular vernacular that creates visual interest while setting the stage for a variety of seating types. The range from communal tables, bar top seating, feature banquettes, and open format tables combined with a myriad of sculptural geometric privacy screens help create a sense of intimacy, while allowing for visual connection through the space. This dynamic design is sure to become a destination for visitors and staff alike, to provide a reprieve from the clinical and administrative zones of the hospital.

Broward Health Medical Center Oncology Unit
Renovation
Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Broward Health
15,000 Square Feet
It’s not always easy to appreciate the after images of a renovation, unless you see the before photos. This dated 29 bed oncology unit was in desperate need of a renovation.
The existing corridors were drab with scored concrete walls and concrete curbs and dim outdated lighting. This was not the image that Broward Health wanted for its patients, visitors or staff. They wanted the interior environment to mirror the quality care patients receive and to reflect their motto: “Family… Where Life Begins and Love Never Ends”.
The in.design team took this motto and transformed the unit into an uplifting, soothing and healing interior environment. The backdrop was a clean, bright neutral palette with faux wood flooring throughout.
The design statement was beautiful larger than life graphic floral images strategically located throughout the corridors, nurse station, patient rooms and entry corridor/ family waiting room. These eye catching images doubled as wall protection and artwork.
Modern decorative LED ring and linear lighting along with a wood ceiling/ wall system created focal features for wayfinding purposes at the entry and nurse station.
The prefabricated nurse station and patient headwalls allowed for ease of maintenance and flexibility as the function of spaces adapt overtime. The team at Broward Medical Center was very pleased with the outcome of this unit and is using this design as the benchmark for future projects.
